Deck Design Features

Optimize Your Deck with These 5 Ingenious Design Features

When it’s time to add a deck to your Cleveland area home, contact LPB Construction Inc. We have been creating quality, customized decks for three generations. No design is too big or too complicated for our skilled carpenters. We recommend incorporating one or more of the following design features into your new deck.

1. Add a Roof

Make the most of your new deck by including a patio roof in the design plan. The weather in Ohio can be unpredictable but, with a roof, you can enjoy your new deck rain or shine, all while protecting yourself and your décor from the elements.

2. In-Deck Lighting

Built-in lighting makes your deck the perfect space for evening entertainment. We can incorporate lighting features into stairs, along the railing, or in the ceiling. Lighting creates ambiance, which, again, will make your deck a favorite gathering place for family and friends. Plus, built-in lighting serves as an added safety feature!

3. Under-Deck Roofing

Don’t waste the space beneath your second-story deck; instead, turn it into a covered patio! With the TimberTech DrySpace under-deck drainage system, you never have to worry about rain spoiling your plans. The DrySpace system attaches directly to the second-story deck joists and acts as an under-deck drainage system that protects your under-deck space from moisture.

4. Built-In Planters

Built-in planters make a beautiful addition to any deck. They offer a way to add splashes of color and natural beauty to your deck year round. Additionally, wrap-around planters create more privacy, making your deck feel more intimate and inviting.

5. Privacy Fence

If you have neighbors close by, a privacy screen may be just what you need. We can incorporate a privacy fence or lattice directly into the design of your deck to create a natural, attractive barrier between you and your neighbors. Plus, fences are useful for more than avoiding prying eyes; if properly placed, they can also hide eye sores, block the wind, and provide shade.
